Acording Dana White, Cris Cyborg is afraid to lose again
Jul 24, 2019
UFC president Dana White thinks that owing to fear, Cris Cyborg has not yet accepted a rematch with Amanda Nunes.
Cyborg put the featherweight gold of the UFC women on the line back against Nunes in Dec. 2018. "The Lioness" had ambitions to become a "champ-champ" as she was already holding bantamweight gold. Nunes knocked out Cyborg in just 51 seconds and become the first female fighter in UFC history to hold two titles concurrently.
White spoke to TMZ Sports and gave his hypothesis why Nunes vs. Cyborg 2 has not yet been booked.
He said: “I think it’s pretty obvious why she wouldn’t want that fight. It’s a bad fight for her. I think that [Cyborg] is at the point where she’s afraid to lose again. Losing again isn’t something she’s interested in.”
Cyborg last match on her present UFC contract is scheduled on July 27. She will meet Felicia Spencer at UFC 240. Headlining that card will be a featherweight title fight between champion Max Holloway and Frankie Edgar.
As for Nunes, she has a first-round TKO win over Holly Holm. Nunes landed a head kick followed by a series of punches on the floor to close the deal.
