She is widely recognized as 'a woman's face of MMA', but refused to recognize for herself that title. Sports career Carano started with Muay Thai. After 14 fights (12 wins - 1 loss - 1 draw), Carano received an offer to take part in the first sanctioned female fight on the mixed rules in Nevada. After Strikeforce bought up the assets of the bankrupt ProElite (parent company EliteXC), Carano, like many other former EliteXC fighters, began to act under the auspices of the California promotion.
