MMA is not an Olympic sport. However, from time to time, fighters with experience of participation and even victories in the Olympic Games come out to the octagon.
Daniel Cormier is the UFC light heavyweight champion. Participated in the Olympic Games in 2004 and 2008. Was a member of the US national wrestling team. He didn’t become the Olimpic winner, but he defended the UFC belt with dignity (April 8, 2017).
Daniel Cormier took a great interest in freestyle wrestling at school, but in MMA he prefers boxing. It’s noticeable from the statistics of victories: he won only three times from the 18 victories on the ground.
