The Caps and Blue Jackets met in Columbus on Sunday in a critically important game. With the Caps up 3-1 in the third period, things got a bit heated. First thing was Capitals forward Alex Ovechkin landed a big hit on Blue Jackets defenseman Zach Werenski. As Seth Jones reversed the puck to Werenski, a hard-charging Ovechkin crushed the 19-year-old in the corner. Werenski would leave the game and not return.
Ovechkin was not penalized on the play. Few minutes later situation got angry to the next level Blue Jackets forward Josh Anderson punched Alex Ovechkin in the face and chest. Ovechkin wasn't having that. The punches started flying and a line brawl broke out.
